CUYHA tryout update

Dear hockey families,

The CUYHA board does its best to forecast the number of teams we can sponsor at each level and our best guide is the number of skaters who sign up for conditioning camps and tryouts.  This year, we have had a strong showing at conditioning camps, but many of these skaters have not yet registered for tryouts.  In addition, there might be others who are interested in travel hockey but haven't registered for tryouts.  We are writing to encourage you to sign up for tryouts ASAP.  The cost is low - just $15 for two skates.  Register here:

Here is our forecast for teams based on current registrations:

Mite - between 1 and 2 teams

Squirt - between 1 and 2 teams

Pee Wee - between 1 and 2 teams

Bantam - 1 team

HS/Midget - 1 team

At each level, the first team (labeled AA) will play in NIHL (the Chicago-based league) while the 2nd team (labeled A) would play in CIHL, which is the Central Illinois Hockey League.  CIHL is a group of organizations that this year includes Bloomington, Springfield, and Decatur (Pekin might join too).  The A teams would play in the CIHL games, which are typically 2 home and 2 away games at each participating location, as well as any other games and tournaments the teams decide to schedule. The A team skaters would register and be a part of House League as their primary practice ice, but would also have team practices 2-3 times per month.

Please register for tryouts ASAP and let me know if you have any additional questions.
