House League

House League (HL) is for boys and girls typically age 5 and older. It is designed to build a skaters’ skill base and love for the game of hockey, and to begin game play. A fall and spring session are offered. Fall session begins in September/October each year, spring session begins in January. Dates for the 2010-2011 season will be announced after August 9. Below is an example of what the schedule was for the 2009-2010 season. Similarities will be seen in this season.

• Session 1: October 7 – December 16, 2009
• Session 2: January 6 – March 17, 2010
• Practices: Wednesday nights 6:00-7:00pm and Saturday mornings 7:10–8:40am at the U of I Ice Arena (406 East Armory Ave., Champaign, IL 61820; Phone: 333-2081).
• Games: If scheduled, occur on a periodic basis.
• Fees: $175 per skater per session; $25 discount if fees paid in full at Registration.
• Equipment: Jersey included in cost. Equipment can be rented from CUYHA for $40 and must be returned to CUYHA when session ends. Skaters can choose to bring their own equipment if desired. Equipment includes:
  • Helmet, skates, stick
  • Shoulder pads; elbow pads, gloves, pants, shin guards, socks
• Registration (Fall Session): September 30, 2009; 5:30–7:00pm. U of I Ice Arena (406 East Armory Ave., Champaign, IL 61820; Phone: 333-2081); Free Skate 6:00–7:00pm.
• (Spring Session): To be announced.
• Other: All players must first register with USA Hockey online as a player which is free to those 6 & under.
