Minor Hawks Program

Message from Coach Darin

The NHL recognizes the importance of assisting youth hockey organizations in growing the great sport of hockey. For the 2009-2010 season, CUYHA is pleased to offer the Chicago Blackhawks Minor Hawks program to new skaters age 4-8.

The program is an inexpensive one hour/one day a week “Learn to Skate/Learn to Play Hockey” program for kids who are interested in exploring the game of hockey, but who are not ready for House League play. It follows AHAI’s American Development Model (ADM) for fundamental skating instruction and skill based development, preparing skaters for future play.

All participants must be new to hockey and everyone receives a Chicago Blackhawks Minor Hawks jersey and FREE equipment for use during the sessions (all equipment must be returned at the end of the sessions.)

NOTE: All new skaters must register with USA Hockey; USA Hockey number for existing skaters remains valid for this session.

Follow these steps to complete registration:

  • If you do not have a USA Hockey number, go online to USAhockey.com, and register your skater. This is free to kids age 6 & under and is a mandated requirement by USA Hockey for all skaters playing hockey in the US.
  • Keep a copy of your USA hockey confirmation page to send with your registration check.
  • Complete the MH Online Registration form entering your USA Hockey number where noted.
  • Make your check payable to CUYHA for $75, and send it to P.O. Box 7394, Champaign IL 61826-7394.
  • USA Hockey registration confirmation and fees must be received before skaters will be allowed to participate.

All previous skaters will need to re-enroll by completing the New MH Online Registration form. When you input your USA hockey #, all other data will populate on your form.
