Champaign-Urbana Youth Hockey Association

Thank you for visiting the online home of the CUYHA Chiefs!

CUYHA offers many ways for boys and girls to get into the great game of ice hockey.

Team Options

Minor Hawks - A Chicago Blackhawks-sponsored program for kids ages 5-8 that introduces them to skating, ice hockey equipment, and basic skills instruction.

House League - Geared towards kids ages 5-12 (8U, 10U, and 12U) who have some confidence skating, but still need skill development before playing competitive hockey.

Travel Teams - Teams at all age levels that have regular practices (2-3/week) and who enjoy an enhanced team atmosphere. Skaters test their skill development through game play against other youth hockey organizations in Illinois and surrounding regions.

CUYHA is a 501(c)(3), not-for-profit organization founded in 1966 to serve the needs of the youth ice hockey players in Champaign-Urbana and surrounding areas. Its purpose is to:

“plan, operate, and promote the local youth hockey program. This program provides instruction in the fundamentals of skating and hockey, as well as intermediate and advanced instruction and game competition. It encourages and develops responsibility, confidence, sportsmanship, teamwork and physical fitness.”
