Learn-To-Play "Winter" Registration is open!

The Learn-to-play hockey program is a low-cost ($100) program for boys and girls age 5-8 years old who are new to hockey and want to "suit up" in full gear and try this great game! It is specifically designed to teach new hockey players how to skate. Each session is 8 weeks, with one practice per week. 

LTP transition to House registration is now open to the right.

The cost will be $50 for the transition session.

If you have done 2 sessions of LTP (MinorHawks) or LTP coaches have approved you. You may sign up for the last two weeks of house. You will get 6 ice times in two weeks Starting Dec. 3th though Dec. 17th. Your ice times will include 3 practices and 3 half ice scrimmage days. You will follow the house schedule. You should also register for "Winter House" that starts in January. That is located in the House Program tab.


Appropriate players are at least 5-8 years old and are new to hockey.


Winter Learn-to-skate will start early January 3rd and go for 8 weeks. It will be on Tuesday nights 6-7pm. Jan. 3, 10, 17, 24, 31, Feb. 7, 14, 21. *dates may change for weather or ice scheduling.


Practice will be at The U of I Ice arena.

Fees for Learn-To-Skate are $100 per session. This includes 8 on-ice practices and all equipment needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my child need to have skating experience?

No. The Learn-To-Skate Program us designed to take a skater from zero experience to entry level hockey skills.

What is the difference between House and Learn-To-Skate?

House is for 6-12 year old children who have the ability to control movement and can move autonomously on the ice. House has 3 opportunities to skate a week. Two Skills practices and one scrimmage practice a week. Learn-To-Skate is to try hockey and learn basic skills.

Can my child us their own equipment?

Yes, As long as the helmet has a valid sticker and the equipment is in good working order. All equipment should fit properly.

LTP to House transition

This Registration is for players who have completed the LTP program and are ready to transition into House League and have been approved by LTP coaching staff. 


Winter Learn to Play

Learn to Play Hockey for minors who have never played hockey before.  Participants can attend Learn to Play Sessions 1 or 2 times before transitioning to House League for increased player development.
