The Chiefs have 2 options for players new to the sport of hockey...
The first option is Little Blackhawks. The program is a partnership between CUYHA and the Chicago Blackhawks.
1st Option:
Little Blackhawks Registration Fee ($250) Includes:
- Six (6) to eight (8) weeks of ice time and lessons at a local rink (U of I)
- Brand-new head-to-toe equipment to keep
- Appearances by Chicago Blackhawks Alumni
- One (1) ticket to a Chicago Blackhawks home game in the 2023-2024 season

The second option is the CUYHA Learn To Play Program.
2nd Option:
CUYHA Learn-to-play Hockey Fee ($135+ Equipment Cost):
- includes 6-8 weeks of ice time and lessons
- equipment is available for a rental fee or provided by the family
- Registration link is on the right side if viewing on a computer or at the bottom of the page if using a mobile device
Important Notes:
- Players will need a USA Hockey Number in order to register.

Does my child need to have skating experience?
No. The Learn-To-Skate Program us designed to take a skater from zero experience to entry level hockey skills.
What is the difference between House and Learn-To-Skate?
House is for 6-12 year old children who have the ability to control movement and can move autonomously on the ice. House has 3 opportunities to skate a week. Two Skills practices and one scrimmage practice a week. Learn-To-Skate is to try hockey and learn basic skills.
Can my child us their own equipment?
Yes, As long as the helmet has a valid sticker and the equipment is in good working order. All equipment should fit properly.
