CUYHA – PARENT (OR GUARDIAN) CODE OF

CONDUCT 2026/2027

1. Be responsible for and supervise the behavior of your player before and after hockey games and practices.

2. Be responsible for and supervise the behavior of other children you bring to the rink during practices and

games.

3. Accept responsibility as a parent volunteer by taking your turn helping with duties such as game timekeeper,

score sheet, and helping with home tournaments.

4. Be supportive of the Player Code of Conduct and be familiar with the policies and procedures in the CUYHA

Member Handbook. This includes adherence to the Zero Tolerance Policy.

5. Inform the head coach of any medical condition or medications being taken which may affect your player’s

welfare or performance.

6. 24 Hour Rule: If you have a concern regarding your player, please talk to your player’s head coach first.

However, never approach a coach immediately after a game. Wait 24 hours to make contact and arrange an

opportunity to meet with the coach to discuss the issue. Raise your concern in a courteous manner. Yelling,

rudeness, or using foul language is unacceptable. Once you have stated your question or concern, listen to the

explanation. Listening receptively may really help you to understand any explanation that is given.

7. Be positive and supportive of your player. Do not put pressure and unrealistic expectations on your player.

Allow your player to enjoy and grow from this valuable experience. Most athletes participate for the fun of the

game; excessive pressure or expectations can alter this most fundamental reason for playing.

8. Demonstrate good sportsmanship during games and serve as a positive role model for our players, other

children, and all spectators in the stands. Do not shout negative comments at the referees or players and coaches

of either team. The Zero Tolerance Policy applies to parents as spectators at games.

9. Conduct yourself in a manner that is supportive of the primary goal of CUYHA, which is to promote youth

hockey programs in our community.
